Why do people take photographs?

People take photographs for many different reasons such as hobby, leisure, obligation or job. However some people argue that photography is not a profession (read here for Ken Rockwell's explanation).

If you want to become a Professional Photographer, read this.
And here is the equipment that you will need as you go pro.

I'm an Amateur Photographer, but maybe someday I might turn professional and I will send my critique to Mr. Rockwell. I'm a big fan of Ken though.

For me personally, I take photographs because I believe that life is a journey and I want to capture all the moments that matter (widely known as the Kodak moment). With the pictures, I can remember the experiences and the emotions that I felt during those events. I also hope that others may also be able to use my work to remind themselves of their journey of life (places they've travelled, things they've seen, people they've met, or their life changing event etc). And just like me, I hope they can relive those moments through the pictures even for just a little while.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Happy Photographing!
